Boral Gutter Replacement: The San Antonio Owner’s Guide

Boral gutter replacement in San Antonio typically runs $14 to $22 per linear foot installed, with most single-story homes landing between $1,800 and $3,200 total depending on footage, height, and what’s underneath the old system. We stock Boral-compatible gutter profiles on our trucks, so most replacements are done in a single visit. Homeowners usually discover the problem the hard way: a sagging run pulling away from the fascia, water spilling over the edge during a Hill Country downpour, or a rusted seam that’s been quietly rotting the soffit behind it.

Here’s the thing about gutters in San Antonio: they fail in ways that aren’t obvious until they’ve been failing for a while. The limestone-heavy soil around Alamo Heights and Terrell Hills means runoff carries grit that wears down seams and corners faster than you’d expect. And the summer sun does its own work, baking sealants until they crack and separate. If you’ve got a Boral gutter product and a section that’s pulling, leaking, or crushed, this page tells you what we do about it, what it costs, and how we keep the rest of your house untouched while we’re up there.

Which Boral Models This Applies To

Boral’s gutter lines in the Texas market split into two main camps: the steel profiles (often seen on homes built in the 1990s and 2000s, particularly around Stone Oak and the Dominion) and the aluminum profiles more common on newer construction. The compatibility gotcha most owners miss is that Boral’s mounting brackets changed spacing between the steel and aluminum generations. An older steel gutter with brackets every 32 inches won’t accept the 24-inch-spacing brackets from the newer aluminum line without new fascia holes. We verify bracket spacing before quoting so you’re not paying for a “match” that isn’t one.

On identifying your part: the easiest route is a photo of the gutter’s end cap and the bracket, which our team reads from the photo before we ever set foot on the ladder. If there’s no visible label, measure the top opening width. Boral steel profiles run 5-inch and 6-inch; aluminum runs 5-inch, 6-inch, and a less common 4-inch on some townhome clusters near the Medical Center. For OEM versus aftermarket: Boral’s OEM steel is heavier-gauge than most aftermarket equivalents, which is good for hail season but costs more. We’ll quote both honestly and tell you when the aftermarket option is genuinely fine and when the heavier steel is worth it.

Birchbark Roofing San Antonio is an independent roofing and gutter service provider. We install Boral-compatible replacements, but we’re not affiliated with Boral the manufacturer.

Signs Your Boral Gutter Replacement Is Failing

  • Water spilling over the front edge during rain. Usually means the gutter slope has flattened or a bracket has pulled loose from the fascia. Over time, San Antonio’s clay soil expands and contracts enough to shift fascia boards, and gutters that were pitched correctly ten years ago quietly lose their grade.
  • Visible gaps at the seams or corners. Boral’s older steel lines were sealed with butyl tape at the seams, and after eight to ten Texas summers that tape hardens, shrinks, and starts leaking. If you see daylight through a seam from the ground, it’s been leaking for a while.
  • Sagging or pulling away from the house. This is almost always the brackets or the fascia behind them. In a city where we get sudden, violent downpours, a sagging five-foot section can rip itself loose in one storm and take shingles with it.
  • Rust streaks or soft, flaky patches on steel. Stone Oak and areas north of Loop 1604 see more tree debris sitting in gutters longer, which holds moisture against the steel and speeds up corrosion. Once the metal’s soft enough to flex with hand pressure, it’s not repairable.
  • Water stains or rot on the soffit or fascia board. This is the one that makes us stop and look closer. By the time a gutter leak shows up as a stain under the eave, water’s been working on that wood for months, maybe years, in a city with enough humidity to keep rot moving.

Replacement Cost & What’s Included

In San Antonio, budget $14 to $18 per linear foot for standard 5-inch aluminum replacement, and $18 to $22 for 6-inch or steel-profile work. A typical single-story ranch in Alamo Heights with 140 feet of gutter lands around $2,200 to $2,800. Two-story homes push higher because of ladder work, safety tie-offs, and the slower pace that height demands.

What drives the range? Three things mostly: how much of the fascia board needs repair behind the old gutter, whether you’re at one story or two, and whether the downspouts can be salvaged. We will not quote you a gutter number and then “discover” fascia damage after we start. Our estimator checks the fascia and bracket anchoring during the free estimate, so the written price you get before any work starts already includes what we can see. And if we open something up and find rot we couldn’t have seen, we stop, show you a photo, and hand you a number for the additional work before we touch it. No surprise at the end, ever. That’s the whole point of a written price.

Every replacement we install is covered under our 365-Day Done Right Promise. If something’s not right within a year, we make it right. You’ll see your exact number in writing before we start, and you’ll get a photo of the cleaned-up worksite before the crew rolls out of your driveway.

DIY or Call Us?

What you can safely check yourself: grab a pair of binoculars and inspect the brackets from the ground. Look for pulling, gaps at seams, and any section that’s running visibly out of level. You can also photograph the end caps and brackets and send them to us, which helps us identify the Boral profile before we arrive. What you should not do yourself: get on a ladder with a drill and try to re-anchor a sagging section into rotted fascia, and do not attempt to re-pitch a run by hand. Gutters are awkward, long, and heavier than people expect, and in San Antonio’s heat, doing it wrong means a fall or a bigger fascia repair bill later. Gutter work near power lines near the drop from the roof is not worth the risk.

If the dog needs to stay inside while we work, we coordinate the door schedule with you. Our crew wears shoe covers at the door, lays drop cloths through the hallway, and clears all debris and leaves the yard the way we found it. Call (903) 354-7802 and Erik or one of the team will walk you through what you’re seeing and whether it’s a repair or a replacement.
